I'm interested.
Would like to hear a science 101 type course.
i am setting up a podcast (radio show) where we will cover the issues of jw's, amongst the topics of science, belief and more.. i am letting you guys know because i would like to interact with the forum as we do them, looking for suggestions for topics, looking for guest ideas and also we can mask voies and change names, so interviewing current jw's to help provide people a voice, an outlet for their frustration whilst providing a safety net.
there is no hierarchy, but current elders, bethelites etc that contribute here already will be more than welcome and protected!.
the podcast will be pro science, i will have both atheist and theist co-presenters in the episodes but i can't deny my bias towards evidence and science, but hopefully it should be enjoyable and informative for us all.. i plan for it to be about 2hrs long, maybe an episode a month or every 2 or 3 weeks.

one of my best friend's, who is an ex elder had two elders visit him at his home yesterday to invite him to the memorial.
he was cordial to them because they were'nt over the top.. so far, i have had no invites, thank god..
So, when I left I saw the two of them walking around, slowly. It was hot out (over 80 degrees). I realized it seemed odd they were still out, together, at 6:30 p.m. They are each in their late 50's or early 60's, each married to other people. Surprised they didn't have a chaperone or car group. Amazing what can pass when you need to get time in, lol.
as i have mentioned before, i love photography, and specially a technique called hdr.
hdr stands for high dynamic range, and it means the ratio of the "lightness" of the lightest spot in the picture to the darkest.. .

I gave mine to my mom, but my teen daughter recently received one as a gift. I'll give it a shot. :)
I'm in sunny Florida and my iPhone honestly takes great shots, but when I go on vacations outside of Florida I enjoy a real camera.

I've tried it out since reading your thread. I'm not noticing a huge difference, but I've only tried with my iPhone.
i have yet to successfully add a photo here from my iPad.

Just ran into them at my door as I was coming home with my teen and hands full of groceries. I remember them from a hall I attended over 10 years ago. They didn't seem to recognize us and when the "free invitation" was offered, I simply said I was all set and thank you with a huge smile.
The sister actually has a son at Bethel. He was always a nice kid, maybe he woke up and is reading this :)
I have comments ready for a jw I don't know that may knock on my door, but not only do I have plans to go out tonight, I have no plan to debate with elderly witnesses that have been born and raised in south Florida that would recognize me.
two jws came to my door today and i dropped a few truths bombs on them.
i thought i'd share my account of how the conversation went.. .
i was in the yard doing some weeding when two gentlemen walked through the gate.
Marked. Wow! Nice work! I would have fallen back on circular reasoning too, just a couple years ago.
However, the best thing you did, which is what I think makes the difference, is that you challenged them to research and prove the correct answer, to themselves. I often think about how when I pioneered, no one at the door, ever honestly explained their belief or politely challenged us to prove them wrong on this subject. I really feel this is why it's important for people to not just politely dismiss JW's, but have a calm, sensible question that makes them curious and pricks their brain.
Everyone is different, but personally this would have sent me home to research, just so that I didn't appear ignorant. Nowadays, this particular subject coming up and being challenged would send a person (more so the younger JW's, who use the internet for schoolwork) straight to the computer first to research. In the U.S., evolution seems so misunderstood by many of us and it's disturbing how religion, not just JW's, can hold us back from progress.
witnoid e-mails goin around.. all i can say is wtf.. japan assembly experience.

I heard this at my last convention, two years ago. Sounded idiotic then and more so now.
hello everybody, before i begin i just wanna say that i have really found alot of great posts on here that have been helpful forme , theres definitely alot of brilliant people here!.
i am a born in jw(24 years old) ive been baptized for 7 years and was a ministerial servant for 4 years(i am no longer one).
recently me and my parents have have woken up to ttatt(about 2 months ago).
Welcome! Congratulations on your parents and you waking up! I was in a divided marriage And while it was just one of our problems, it was not worth raising a child that way. It contributes to so much additional stress. Tread lightly in this relationship. Relish the break and use it wisely to plan your future.
do you have questions about or want to understand evolution?
it is a difficult concept to communicate and so if it is not explained well , it is understandable that we would dismiss it.. i sincerely want to talk with people who want to learn more or see what all the fuss is about.
we are all learning and increasing our knowledge all the time and it is good to go over facts with critical eye.. evolution we can discuss, looking at the foundational facts and evidence, one at a time for you to go and check, agree or disagree with and return.. no pressure to accept it, you can decide for yourself, also no mocking etc of what you have to say.. .
I learned TTATT last year and have since been reading some Dawkins, Hawking, Harris etc.
I've been going to this site http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/evolution/change/index.html when I have questions. What do you think of it?
At first, it was overwhelming to read threads on jw.net and feel so clueless, after graduating in the 90's as valedectorian. The fact that so many school children can go through public school in the U.S. and not accept evolution, now disturbs me and I can see the danger and lack of progress it has resulted in. Once I kept reading about science the hold any religion had on me was released. I would love to help others think, not like me, but to think and QUESTION.
Now I find it fascinating to explore my questions and would appreciate a good starting point for reading and being able to comprehend and explain evolution to a friend or family member that thinks evolution says we directly descended from an ape or that rainbows are from god.
omg i am so distressed.
i have a talk coming up on tuesday, it is the number 3 "abiram.
why opposing god appointed authority is tantamount to opposing god himself"!.
Good for you! Who knows who didn't show a reaction, but may be starting to think. Maybe you'll get some feedback down the road from someone waking up.
This also serves as a great reminder to how brain dead many seem at the meeting. I'm glad I don't go.
